Parent coaching is an interactive process between a parent and a coach. It involves observation, reflection, and action to directly promote the parents ability to support his or her child.
- Observe. We will observe the parent and the child engaged in a typical routine or activity. Provide the parent with opportunities to learn new strategies that supports their child's engagement.
- Give. We will provide the parent opportunities to practice new strategies with a child that promote engagement and participation in daily family routines.
- Assess. Routine based assessment is a vehicle that allows the coach through a series of questions to ascertain information and promote growth between parent and child.
- Provide Feedback. We will share ideas, observations and strategies for growth and improvement.
- Plan. Joint planning allows the parent and the coach to develop a common framework which promotes participation in daily routines.
